Fool For Love (and cupcakes)

Just received the jpg for the cover forFOOL FOR LOVE! I shared a snapshot of the cover flat the other night, but this is a crystal clear image of the front cover. Even though the book won't be released until August 28, over the next few months I'll start sharing more details as part of the pre-pub excitement. For now, feast your eyes on this! Yum!

Henry Miller’s 11 Writing Commandments

Henry Miller’s 11 Writing Commandments (Source: Henry Miller on Writing)
1. Work on one thing at a time until finished.
2. Start no more new books, add no more new material to "Black Spring."
3. Don't be nervous. Work calmly, joyously, recklessly on whatever is in hand.
4. Work according to Program and not according to mood. Stop at the appointed time!
5. When you can't create you can work.
6. Cement a little every day, rather than add new fertilizers.
7. Keep human! See people, go places, drink if you feel like it.
8. Don't be a draught-horse! Work with pleasure only.
9. Discard the Program when you feel like it—but go back to it next day. Concentrate. Narrow down. Exclude.
10. Forget the books you want to write. Think only of the book you are writing.
11.Write first and always. Painting, music, friends, cinema, all these come afterwards.

We Got Cover!

Yesterday was one of the surprise "wahoo" days. UPS delivered the cover flat for FOOL FOR LOVE, the launch book in my new Cupcake Lovers series for St. Martin's Press!  I took this shot with my phone camara. It's not the best quality, but you get the idea. (click on pic to enlarge so you can read the quotes!)

I absolutely love the cover art and the SMP team did a fantastic job with the back of the book blurb. On top of that, I feel very blessed to have fabulous quotes from two fantastic NYT Bestselling writers--Kristan Higgins and Susan Andersen. Wahoo! I'm so glad they enjoyed this story and I hope you will too!

As soon as I have a sharp jpg of the cover to share, I will. Until then I hope you get as much joy from this cover flat as I do. Yummy, yes?

I'm trying very hard to check in more often. So far that's not going so well. That said, here I am... with a flyby.

Got a heads up yesterday from Romantic Times BOOKreviews that ALL ABOUT EVIE was featured in a new article celebrating reads from the past--2007 to be exact. I'm so pleased. ALL ABOUT EVIE is one of my favorite books! And look who it's featured alongside as a recommended contemporary read!

Speaking of RT, they're also hosting a Valentine's Giveaway--A collection of several fabulous romance novels from some of your favorite authors. Winner to be announced 2/21. Check it out!

As far as my current projects go, I am crazy busy. Presently writing the second book in the Cupcake Lovers series--THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE, while awai…

The Grown-Up Girl's Makeover

Even though I'm crazy busy working on two new series, I've been coming up for air every now and then to work on a new me. Inspired by the book The Grown-Up Girl's Guide to Style by Christine Schwab, I'm making changes in my personal style little by little.

First and second steps accomplished this week. Hair. A new color and cut.

Next week, new eyeglasses. After that the tedious task of weeding through my mostly outdated and definitely overflowing wardrobe. I plan on giving a lot of things away. Then I'll slowly rebuild my wardrobe based on fit and fashion (and comfort!). Thinking about exploring the wonders of eBay for that!

Anyhow, here's the new 'do'...

And a quote from Schwab's fantastic book...
Turning forty, fifty, or sixties not about getting older, it's about becoming ageless...

The Month That Was

Wow. I haven't posted for an entire month? Well, time flies when your juggling writing two new series! Let's see...

*Finished and submitted HER SKY COWBOY (book 1 of The Glorious Victorious Darcys)

*Finished and returned copy edits for FOOL FOR LOVE (book 1 of Cupcake Lovers)

*Wrote and submitted proposal for HIS CLOCKWORK CANARY (book 2 of The Glorious Victorious Darcys)

*Started and and working madly on THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE (book 2 of Cupcake Lovers)

I've been busy with a lot of other things, too.
*Registering for the Romantic Times Booklovers convention.
*Coordinating two workshops for same convention.
*Speaking at a book club.
*Deep cleaning my kitchen (which has nothing to do with writing but HAD to be done!)
*Coordinating promo.  Speaking of....

I asked my sister Elle, of EJR Digital Art to design a postcard for me--a mash-up of steampunk and cupcakes. Something to work as a fun way to promote both new series. Check this out!

Is that creative, or what! I love it. E…
