How To Waste Four Hours

Image
Google Blogger Beta Templates. *snicker* It was like shopping for new shoes. I liked quite a few, but they didn't all fit. So I moved on and on... Four later, I found this. I don't know how long I'll keep it--sort of like my current hair color--but it's fun for now. Now I just have to update with all of my book covers and such. In the meantime, enjoy this slideshow of some recent Romantic Times Convention memories.

(Actually, uploading this slide show was a mistake as I tinkered. But what the hey.)

Yes!

THUNK!!

That is the sound of my head hitting the desk. This morning I finished and turned in EVIE EVER AFTER. As hard as this book was to write, I'm happy to say that I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

I'm taking the next few days to catch up on 'life' before plunging in to a new story.

Mostly, I'm going to breathe.

Embrace and Conquer!

Today I'm over at Babes in Booklandtalking about 'Writer's Neurosis'. Uh, not that I'm insecure or anything. *g*

A Weekend with The Girls

Image
The weather finally turned warm and sunny.... just in time for the holiday weekend. I'd hoped to see the new Indiana Jones movie (I love Indiana!), but that will have to wait. I'll be spending the weekend with my own fictional hero(s) writing the last few chapters of EVIE EVER AFTER. I'm pumped and in the zone, so it's a good thing! As soon as I type the end, I'm going to treat myself to a shopping trip and a movie. Then I'm going to settle in on the couch with my girls, Sadie, Cheyenne, and Billie and lose myself in a great book. I'm in the mood for a romantic action adventure. Any recommendations?

What about you? What are you doing this weekend?

A Catch-up Ramble

Image
Apologies for not checking in sooner, gang. I have a lot of balls in the air. I am not an expert juggler, so I tend to drop a few here and there. I recently answered several interview questions for an upcoming June Author feature at Love Western Romances. One of the questions asked if I had any tips for time management. Ha! In essence my answer was, my way is not the right way. Because the way I get it all done is by not having a life (read: gave up TV, hobbies, and all social activities) I seriously do not recommend this approach. I hope to amend my ways soon. Working on the how.

Tonight I have an over-the-phone chat scheduled with my HQN editor's book club. They're reading ALL ABOUT EVIE and she thought it would be fun if they could ask me questions about the book. Since I can't be there in person, we're going to try it over the phone. This will be a first for me. I'm looking forward to it though. A chance to chat about Evie, Arch, and Milo? You bet, I'm in!

Babes, Puppy and Chicks

Image
Tomorrow I'll update you on where I've been, what I've been doing, and where I am.

Today, I'm at Babes in Booklandtalking about 'redemption'. Character redemption, that is.

Before you hop overto read my post at BIB, check out this puppy and his chicks! (give it a sec to kick in) It gets funnier as it goes. I'm still smiling!

Stormy, but Productive Day

We're having one heck of a coastal storm. The window panes rattled so hard last night, it made it tough to sleep. The wind is still blowing--hard. The rain started this morning and has yet to stop.

The planters and patio furniture are strewn willy-nilly around my backyard. About an hour ago, the rain gutter on the back of the house came down, well, half way down. It's pretty mangled. Steve's going to be trhilled to see that when he gets home from work.

The phone just rang. I screened as usual. It was a public warning for our little island. Coastal flooding forthcoming. Move all vehicles to higher ground. Uh, oh. I pulled on a slicker and hurried outside to make sure my car was in the slightly elevated driveway and not the street where it had gotten flooded two years prior. It was. Thank you, Steve!

Currently, I'm sitting on the sofa typing away at the deadline book. My two dogs, who hate storms, are curled on either side of me. Wind blowing. Rain pouring. If nothing else,…

Cherished Memories

Image
Today, I worked hard at the library. Today, I worked hard on my WIP. Today, I put together a slideshow of just a few special memories from past Romantic Times Conventions. On MySpace I imported great music by Lisa Loeb to accompany this slideshow, but I can't figure out how to do that here. Darn. So please CLICK HEREto go to 'Beth's' MySpace. Click play on the music and scroll down to view a few cherished memories from RT conventions! Call me nostalgic.

Make Me Smile

I sailed through most of my life sporting rose-colored glasses. I rarely watched the news or read the newspapers. It's not that I didn't want to be aware of current events, it's that for the most part media focused on the bad stuff in life. Stuff I didn't want to know about.

Unfortunately, as much as I love my job at the library, it behooves me to be somewhat savvy about what's going on in the world. So every morning, I now surf CNN. I'm often appalled by the headlines alone. Many of the stories are horrifying. I really don't want to know that mankind is capable of such atrocities. Lately, I've been feeling a little depressed. I blame the news. The 'bad' news that is. So I'm slipping on my rose-colored glasses for the next few days. I'm adopting Monty Python's "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" as my theme song. I'm asking you to help me adopt a merrier attitude.

Share some good news with me. Something about you. Yo…

A New Playground

I'm thrilled to announce I've been invited to join a fantabulous group blog with some stunningly talented authors and nice ladies to boot! There's a cool banner featuring all of our names, but for some reason Blogger won't let me upload this morning. Maybe later...

From here on, every Sunday you can find me at Babes in Bookland where we chime in on a weekly topic. My premiere post is an introduction of sorts, including an edited essay. But next week it's on to the featured topics! Please hop over and check out my new playground!
