Soul Mates

The mailman brought a nifty surprise yesterday. The Harlequin Romance Report 2007. A nifty catalogue filled with all kinds of global statistics and surveys pertaining to, you guessed it, romance. For instance...

* More than two-thirds of both men (68%) and women (69%) agree that everyone has a soul mate. While we may agree to disagree on whether or not the term "soul mate" is out, most men and women do believe in the concept of true love and finding that special person they can connect with.

I found that encouraging, although I do wish the percentage had been higher. What about you? Do you believe in soul mates? For the record (surprise, suprise), I do. *g*

I'd say I'm in that 68% of men who believe it. Yeah, no real argument. I do. haha

I do believe in that, but I'm not sure there is only one. I think the soul recognizes a few people. Now I should probably preface my answer by saying I believe I'm with the perfect person for me. *g*

You know, I'm not sure! That's not to say I don't believe in love, far from it! I think I worry that the 'soul mate' concept forgets that loving someone, and building a loving relationship, involves more than luck, or fate.

I don't believe in soul mates. I don't even believe in true love though my parents' marriage should have taught me otherwise. :)

But then, all my fellow students and most of my neighbours, relatives and such, didn't teach me otherwise. :)

Oh, sure I believe in soul mates. Mine, for instance, lives on a sheep farm in the Caucasus Mountains; she doesn't have internet, telephone, or cable and likely doesn't speak English.

Yeah, good call there, Cupid ;)

Really interesting to read all the different takes here. This is a subject I could go on and on about but alas... the infamous deadline crunch.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts everyone! (Um, Scott. Your scarin' me.) *g*

Is there a such thing as a soul mate? You betcha. I'm an author also--one half of the personalized romance novelist Fletcher Newbern. My husband and I created www.yournovel.com. We work together every single day. I think this is only possible because we must be soul mates. Otherwise, we'd surely kill each other! I feel like the luckiest woman alive. We travel to beautiful places to do research and then come home and write love stories together. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
